lining of the hand made baptism gown

Once the lining and the white silk skirt of the baby girl's christening gown are stitched together - you need to make sure that the cut out panel with the inserted lace stays in the right spot. I choose to stitch carefully right around the lace panel...

slowly going over all the edges... The stitching forms a nice guide for the back side hemline .... I use a steam iron to steam press the line . It will form a nice crisp finish to the final look of this very traditional christening gown.

As you can see from this photo, the front is gathered nicely. Now it is time to pleat the lining...
